Michelle Trostler is an avid genetic genealogist and founder of Identify Family. Michelle attended and spoke at both of the Institute for Genetic Genealogy’s 2016 and 2017 conferences and is a member of CeCe Moore’s DNA Detectives. Michelle honed her skills at the Council for the Advancement of Forensic Genealogy’s Advanced DNA Practicum in both 2015 and 2016 as well as the Advanced Genetic Genealogy course at the Genealogical Research Institute, Pittsburgh in 2018. Michelle has also attended many other genealogical conferences where she has learned about DNA and its uses as well as the art of ferreting out the living who possess the DNA needed to confirm or disprove a genealogical theory.
This Winter, Michelle will stay up to date on the latest in genetic genealogy by attending the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy.
Michelle holds a BA in Sociology from UC San Diego and an MA in Sociology from USC. She worked for 10 years in Silicon Valley as a digital marketer where she learned to manipulate mounds of data. Now she applies may of those same skills to genetic genealogy.
Michelle is a firm believer in adoptee, donor conceived, and other unknown parentage rights. She is will also take law enforcement cases.
